Did you know that most of what you've been told about success isn't true? How many times have you been told that the secret to getting what you want are:
Some of you may be thinking, "Now, wait a minute...are you saying that people shouldn't be good? Or that college is a bad idea? Or that you're against Christianity?" Not at all! The truth is that much of what you've been taught about becoming successful is just not even true... Take the first myth of prosperity, for instance. Everyone always says, "If you know what you want, you can have it". Well, don't we know lots of people who know they want to have more money, better health or a better lifestyle? And they're still broke, sick and stuck in the same dead-end job. Obviously, "knowing what you want" doesn't necessarily produce success. What about working hard? Do you know someone who makes $20,000 a year? Do you honestly believe that a person earning $200,000 works TEN times as many hours? Or TEN times harder? Where would YOU be if you worked ten times harder or longer? Divorced and exhausted? No, working hard doesn't necessarily have anything to do with success. In fact, most wealthy people don't work NEARLY as hard as broke people. So, what's the secret that no one will tell you?

Let me give you an example from Earl Nightingale's famous recording, The Strangest Secret In The World... Let's say there is a farmer who has some good, fertile land. He can choose whatever he wants to plant in his land...the land doesn't care. In one hand, he has a seed of corn. In the other hand, he has a seed of nightshade -- a deadly poison. The farmer digs two holes, puts the seeds in and covers them up. Each day, through the miracle of the sun, the soil and the rain, the two plants begin to grow: one corn, the other nightshade. Once full-grown, each plant will bear it's own seeds. The stalk of corn will have hundreds of other corn seeds. The nightshade will have hundreds of other seeds of nightshade. Now, here's the simple truth: your mind is like the land. It will return to you anything that you plant in it. Your mind doesn't care. If you have thoughts of cheerful, positive, expectancy, you'll have a life filled with wondrous surprises and great opportunity. But, if you fall into the trap of being like everyone else, you'll probably plant seeds of negativity, scarcity, and poverty. Remember, like the land, your mind doesn't care.
